Women's Lacrosse Players Honored

5/25/05 - Five members of the Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team earned All-American honors when the team was announced today. Senior Caitlin McCormick (Plymouth, Mass.), junior Elizabeth Renehan (St. Davids, Pa.) and sophomore Kim Walker (Ridgewood, N.J.) were all selected to the first team. The three were also first-team All-New England selections, while junior Alison Perencevich (Concord, N.H.), along with sophomores Emily Erickson (Yarmouth, Maine) and Claire Edelen (Sparks, Md.) were second team selections.

Women's Lacrosse Falls In NCAA Semi's

5/21/05 - Middlebury’s season came to an end as they fell 15-14 to The College of New Jersey in the NCAA semifinals. The Panthers end their year at 16-2, with a NESCAC Championship. The win avenges an overtime loss in the '04 finals for the Lions.

Women's Lacrosse Prepares For Final Four

5/16/05 - The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team will makes its 12th consecutive appearance in the NCAA semifinals this weekend at the College of New Jersey. The Panthers will take on the host school on Saturday, while Colorado College meets Salisbury in the other semifinal at 11:30. The winners meet for the NCAA Championship at noon on Sunday, with the game televised live on CSTV (College Sports Television, 611 on DirectTV, also available on some local cable systems).

Women's Lacrosse Wins NCAA Regional

5/15/05 - Middlebury will makes its 12th consecutive appearance in the NCAA final four after an 11-3 win over Bowdoin in an NCAA Regional Final. The semifinals and finals will take place next Saturday and Sunday at the College of New Jersey. Bowdoin ends its season with a school record 15 wins, with just four losses. In four post-season games this season, the Panthers are allowing a mere 3.5 goals/game. Middlebury will take on The College of New Jersey at 2:30 on Saturday, with Colorado College meeting Salisbury in the other semifinal match-up at 11:30. The winners meet for the NCAA Championship on Sunday at noon. All games will be played at the College of New Jersey.

Middlebury Advances To Regional Final

5/14/05 - Middlebury held Nazareth scoreless for the game’s first 31:27 on its way to a 14-4 win over the Golden Flyers in an NCAA regional match-up in Vermont. The Panthers advance to the regional final on Sunday at 1:00, against the winner of the Bowdoin/Stevens game played later today.

5/12/05 - The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team will make its 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance when they host one of four, four-team Regionals this weekend on Kohn Field. The Panthers will meet Nazareth, a 17-5 winner over W. New England, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Bowdoin meets Stevens Institute in the other contest at 2:30 p.m. The winners meet at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday in the NCAA Regional Final. The winner advances to the NCAA semifinals/championship next weekend at The College of New Jersey.

Five Womens' Lacrosse Players Named All-NESCAC

5/11/05 - Five members of the Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team earned All-NESCAC honors when the team was announced today. Renehan earned conference player of the year honors, while Missy Foote was deemed coach of the year.

5/9/05 - Middlebury College women's lacrosse player Kim Walker (Ridgewood, N.J.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The sophomore helped lead the Panthers to their fifth consecutive NESCAC Championship last weekend.

Women's Lacrosse Wins NESCAC Championship

5/8/05 - Middlebury won its fifth straight NESCAC Championship (in the five years of the tournament’s existence) with a 10-2 win over Amherst. The Panthers receive an automatic bid to the 2005 NCAA Championship, the team’s 12th straight bid to the tournament. Amherst is expected to get an at-large bid when the pairings are announced Sunday night.

Women's Lax Thumps Williams, Headed To NESCAC Final

5/7/05 - Middlebury advanced to the NESCAC Championship game with a convincing 19-5 win over Williams on Kohn Field. The Panthers will take Amherst, a 13-12 OT winner over Bowdoin, in the title game at noon on Sunday, with the winner earning an automatic bid to the 2005 NCAA Tournament.

5/4/05 - The defending national champions and four-time defending NESCAC champion Middlebury College will host the semifinals and finals of the NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship on Saturday-Sunday, May 7-8 at Kohn Field in Middlebury, Vermont.

Women's Lacrosse Ends Regular Season With Win

4/30/05 - Middlebury outscored Trinity 9-3 in the second half en route to an 18-9 win on Kohn Field. The Panthers have earned the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament, will draw a first-round bye, and host the semifinals and finals next weekend on Kohn Field. Trinity ends its season at 8-7.

4/27/05 - Middlebury picked up a 10-7 road win at Williams in a low-scoring affair. With the win, the Panthers have clinched the top spot for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and will host the semifinals and finals on May 7th and 8th.

Winstead Is Named NESCAC Player of the Week

4/25/05 - Middlebury College lacrosse player Schuyler Winstead (Chevy Chase, Md.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week.

Winstead scored seven goals and assisted on five others as the women had a 2-0 week. She began the week with four goals and two assists in a road win at Trinity. Winstead then paced the Panther offense with three goals and three assists as #2 Middlebury rolled over #3 Amherst, 18-6 in a key NESCAC contest.

4/23/05 - In a game between two of the nation’s top teams, #2 Middlebury handed #3 Amherst a 18-6 loss on Kohn Field. The loss was the first of the season for the Jeffs, while the Panthers have now won nine straight.

Middlebury Blanks Skidmore

4/20/05 - The Middlebury College women's lacrosse team turned in an amazing defensive performance as they earned a 17-0 shutout at Skidmore. The shutout was the first for the Panthers since a 19-0 win over Trinity in 2000. 

Women's Lax Wins In OT At Bowdoin

4/16/05 - Schuyler Winstead scored the game-winning goal with 2:12 left in the second overtime session, giving the second-ranked Middlebury College women's lacrosse team a 12-11 overtime win against host Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 8-1 on the year (6-0 NESCAC), while the Polar Bears drop to 8-2 (3-2).

4/12/05 - Seven different players scored multiple goals and a swarming Middlebury College offense opened a 10-1 first-half lead as the Panthers cruised to a 19-5 NESCAC victory at Tufts University in women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon.

Women's Lacrosse Wins At Wesleyan

4/9/05 - Middlebury improved to 6-1 on the season as the Panther women's lacrosse team defeated Wesleyan 16-11. Middlebury entered the game ranked second in the latest Division III national poll.

4/2/05 - Middlebury jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and coasted to a 13-4 victory over Bates on Kohn Field. The Panthers are ranked second in the latest Division III national poll.

Women's Lacrosse Thumps Union

3/29/05 - Middlebury had little trouble with Union as they picked up a 17-5 road win on Tuesday. The Panthers took an 11-2 halftime lead and never looked back as they picked up the convincing win. Leading 3-2, Middlebury closed the first half on an 8-0 run to give them the commanding lead.

Renehan Earns Player of the Week Honors

3/29/05 - Middlebury College women’s lacrosse player Elizabeth Renehan (St. Davids, Pa.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Renehan had an impressive four-game week for Middlebury as they opened the season at 3-1. The junior middie scored 10 goals and assisted on six others for 16 points over the four games. Her biggest output of the week was a six-goal effort in a NESCAC win over Colby.

Women's Lacrosse Rolls Over Conn.

3/26/05 - Middlebury opened up its home season with a 19-1 NESCAC win over Connecticut College. The Panthers are ranked second in the latest Division III national poll. Middlebury jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game’s first 2:29, before Kelsey Sullivan answered for Connecticut College to make it a 3-1 game at the 26:33 mark.

Women's Lacrosse Defeats Colby

3/24/05 - Middlebury got back on track with a 20-9 NESCAC win over Colby in a game played in Florida. Elizabeth Renehan exploded for six goals in the game, while Katherine Entwisle scored five on the night. Liza Humes netted three goals for the Panthers, while Beth Seeley added a pair of goals and three assists to help lead the offense. Johanna Rosenfield made six saves in goal to earn the win.

Women's Lacrosse Falls To Salisbury

3/23/05 - The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team suffered its first regular season loss in 55 games today, as they fell to Salisbury in Florida, 12-10. Their last regular season loss came at the hands of Amherst back on April 8th of ’00. The Panthers entered the game ranked #1 nationally, while the Gulls were #2.

Women's Lacrosse Opens With A Win

3/21/05 - The Middlebury College women's lacrosse team finally got its season underway as they defeated Gettysburg, 12-9. The game took place during the Panthers spring break trip in West Palm, Florida on Monday.

Claire Edelen scored three goals and dished out an assist to lead the Middlebury offense to the win. Kim Walker and Alison Perencevich each had two goals in the win while Katherine Entwisle added a pair of assists. Johanna Rosenfield made 11 saves in goal to earn the win for the Panthers.

Foote Inducted Into Springfield Hall Of Fame

10/12/04 - Middlebury College women’s lacrosse coach Missy Foote will be a part of Springfield College’s 32nd class inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 16, during the College’s Homecoming Weekend festivities.
