Foote Named Asst. Coach For U.S. Team

Middlebury College women’s lacrosse coach Missy Foote has been named an assistant coach for the 2006-07 U.S. Women’s Developmental lacrosse team.

Women's Lacrosse Players Named All-Americans

Four members of the Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team were honored by the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association). Senior Elizabeth Renehan (St. Davids, Pa.) earned first-team All-American honors, senior Alison Perencevich (Concord, N.H.) was named to the second-team, while senior Emily Erickson (Yarmouth, Maine) and junior Kim Walker (Ridgewood, N.J.) earned third-team honors.

Women's Lacrosse Falls In NCAA Semifinals

Middlebury saw its season come to an end with a 13-9 loss to The College of New Jersey in an NCAA semifinal contest at Stevens Institute. It is the second straight season that the Lions have ended the Panthers season in the semifinals. Middlebury ends its season with a 16-2 record, a 13th consecutive trip the NCAA semifinals and a sixth consecutive NESCAC Championship.

The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team will make its 13th consecutive trip to the NCAA semifinals after an 11-9 win over Bowdoin in an NCAA quarterfinal match-up on Kohn Field. The Panthers will meet The College of N.J. in the NCAA semifinals on Saturday, May 20th at 2:30 p.m. at Stevens Institute (Hoboken, N.J.). Gettysburg will take on Cortland State in the other semifinal at 11:30 a.m. The title game is slated for Sunday, May 21st at noon and will be televised live on CSTV.

Middlebury went on an 8-0 second half run to pull away from Union and earn a 19-6 win over the Dutchwomen in NCAA Tournament play. The Panthers will take on Bowdoin, an 11-8 winner over Colby, in the NCAA Regional final at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The win was the 300th of her career for Middlebury head coach Missy Foote, who moves to 300-69-1 in her 25th year.

Women's Lacrosse Set To Host NCAA Regional

The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team will make its 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance when they host one of four, four-team Regionals this weekend on Kohn Field. The Panthers will meet Union at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 13th, while Bowdoin will take on Colby at 2:30 p.m. The winners meet in the NCAA Regional Final on Sunday, May 14th at 1:00 p.m.

Renehan Is NESCAC Player of the Year, Four Others Honored

Senior Elizabeth Renehan (St. Davids, Pa.) earned conference Player of the Year honors for the second straight season. Joining her on the first-team were seniors Alison Perencevich (Concord, N.H.) and Emily Erickson (Yarmouth, Maine), along with junior Kim Walker (Ridgewood, N.J.). Earning second-team honors for the Panthers was senior Michele Bergofsky (Exeter, N.H.).

Walker Is Player of the Week

Middlebury College women’s lacrosse player Kim Walker (Ridgewood, N.J.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Walker scored six goals and added two assists this weekend, as Middlebury won its sixth straight NESCAC Championship. The junior scored three goals and had a pair of helpers in a semifinal win over Williams, before scoring three more in the title win over Bowdoin. She also played stellar defense, while earning five draw controls.

Women's Lacrosse Wins Sixth Straight NESCAC Crown

The Middlebury women’s lacrosse team won its sixth consecutive NESCAC Championship with a 14-8 win over Bowdoin on Kohn Field. The Panthers receive an automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Tournament and are expected to host a regional next weekend. Bowdoin will hope for an at-large bid to the tournament when the pairings are announced on CSTV Sunday night at 9:00 p.m.

Panthers Fall To Salisbury

Third-ranked Middlebury suffered its first loss of the season as they fell to #2 Salisbury 8-6 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Elizabeth Renehan scored a pair of goals in the game, while Michele Bergofsky added a goal and an assist. Kim Walker, Channing Weymouth and Claire Edelen added solo goals in the loss. Blair Bowie made seven saves in goal.

Middlebury Thumps St. Lawrence

Middlebury moved to 2-0 on the season as they cruised to a 21-1 win over St. Lawrence in a game played in West Palm Beach, Florida. Schuyler Winstead, Mimi Schatz and Alison Perencevich each scored three goals in the game to lead the Middlebury offense. Blair Bowie made four saves and allowed on goal in 30 minutes, while Whitney Wildrick made one save in the second half.

Women's Lax Wins Season-Opener

Schuyler Winstead had two goals and three assists Middlebury opened up its season with an 18-11 road win at Colby. Middlebury scored the final three goals of the first half to break a 5-5 tie and take an 8-5 lead into halftime.
