Women's Soccer Advances To NESCAC Title Game

The Middlebury women’s soccer team advanced to the NESCAC Championship game with a 1-0 victory over Amherst at Williams. The Panthers will take on the host school, a 4-2 winner over Tufts, in the title game on Sunday at noon. Jenny Galgano headed in a corner kick from teammate Margaret Owen early second half for the game’s only goal. The tally, coming at the 49:36 mark, was the first of the season for the Middlebury defender.

Women's Soccer Looks For NESCAC Title - Watch Live!

Williams College, the two-time defending NESCAC Women’s Soccer Champions, will look to become the first team to win three consecutive conference crowns this weekend when the Ephs host the 2009 NESCAC Women’s Soccer Championship at Cole Field in Williamstown, Mass. Saturday’s first semifinal will feature top-seeded Williams against fourth-seeded Tufts at 11:00 a.m., followed by a rematch of last year’s second semifinal with third-seeded Middlebury taking on second-seeded Amherst at 1:30 p.m. The 2009 NESCAC Women’s Soccer Championship concludes on Sunday, Nov. 8, with the final getting underway at 12:00 p.m.

Women's Soccer Advances To NESCAC Semi's

Middlebury advanced to the NESCAC semifinals with a 1-0 overtime win over Bowdoin on Dragone Field. The Panthers will meet in Amherst in a semifinal match-up on Saturday, November 7th at 1:30 p.m., while host school Williams battles Tufts at 11:00 a.m. The winners meet for the NESCAC Championship on Sunday at noon. Middlebury improves to 11-2-2 on the season, while Bowdoin ends its year at 8-7.

Women's Soccer Drops Heartbreaker To Williams - To Host Tourney Game Sunday

Middlebury dominated Williams for 90 minutes, but it wasn’t enough, as the Ephs scored late to sneak away with a 1-0 victory over the Panthers. Williams, ranked second nationally and #1 in New England, improve to 14-0 on the year and clinch the top spot for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament. Middlebury, ranked third in New England, has earned the third seed and will host sixth-seeded Bowdoin in a quarterfinal game on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

Women's Soccer Johnson & Wales

Middlebury had little trouble with Johnson & Wales as the Panthers defeated the Wildcats 7-0 in the first meeting between the schools. Middlebury held a 36-0 shots advantage in the game, controlling the play from start to finish. The Panthers wrap-up their regular season with a key NESCAC match-up at home vs. Williams on Friday, before hosting a tournament quarterfinal game on Sunday at noon.

Women's Soccer Blanks Bates

Middlebury moved to 9-2-1 on the year with a 1-0 win at Bates on a rain-soaked muddy Russell Street Field. The wet conditions slowed the play of the games at times and affected footing for both teams. Middlebury, ranked No. 20 in Division III, had more success controlling the ball offensively, outshooting the Bobcats 22-6.

Middlebury outshot Plattsburgh 32-15, but it wasn’t enough, as the Panthers settled for a 1-1 tie with the Cardinals over 110 minutes of action on Dragone Field. Middlebury, ranked third in New England, will travel to Bates on Saturday, while Plattsburgh hosts Ithaca on the same day.

Women's Soccer Loses First Game Of The Season

Middlebury suffered its first loss of the season as the 15th ranked Panthers fell at #19 Amherst by a score of 6-1 on Hitchcock Field in Amherst, Mass. The Lord Jeffs improve to 6-2 (4-1 NESCAC) with the conference win, while Middlebury drops to 7-1 (5-1) with its first loss of the season.

Women's Soccer Sets School Mark With Win Over Wesleyan

Middlebury set a school record for most wins to start a season (7), as the Panthers earned their second NESCAC win of the weekend, topping Wesleyan 1-0 on Dragone Field. The Panthers remain undefeated at 7-0, with a perfect 5-0 mark in NESCAC play. Wesleyan falls to 5-3, but sets a school mark with just two goals allowed in its last seven games.

A goal in each half propelled the Middlebury women's soccer team to 2-0 decision at Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers remain unbeaten at 4-0-0 (3-0-0 NESCAC) this year while the Polar Bears fall to 2-3-0 (1-2-0 NESCAC) overall.

Schlueter Is Named NESCAC Player Of The Week

Middlebury College women’s soccer player Amy Schlueter (San Francisco, Calif.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. This marks the second straight week a Panther has won the award, after Annie Rowell garnered the honor seven days ago. Schlueter had a big week for Middlebury, scoring three goals as the Panthers improved to 3-0 on the season with a pair of wins. After scoring a goal in a mid-week 5-0 win over Rensselaer, the rookie scored both goals, including the game-winner in overtime as Middlebury earned a 2-1 road win at Trinity.

Amy Schlueter scored two goals, including a game-winner in double overtime to lead Middlebury to a 2-1 win over Trinity. The Bantams fall to 0-1-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the league after their third double overtime game this season while the Panthers improve to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the NESCAC, after their second overtime win this season.

Rowell Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College women’s soccer player Annie Rowell (Craftsbury, Vt.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The Panther junior was in on both goals during the season-opener for Middlebury, as they earned a 2-1 overtime win over Tufts on Dragone Field. After assisting on the game’s first goal, Rowell scored the game-winner with a blast from the right side just 53 seconds into overtime to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 win over Tufts. Rowell and the Panthers return to action on Wednesday when they host Rensselaer at 4:30 p.m.

Annie Rowell assisted on the game’s first goal and then scored the game-winner just 57 seconds into overtime to lift the Middlebury women’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over Tufts in the season-opener for both teams.
