Sargent & Cannella Earn NESCAC Honors

Senior Ellen Sargent (St. Albans, Vt.) and junior Katelyn Cannella (Pleasantville, N.Y.) earned second-team All-NESCAC honors when the post-season team was announced by the league. The duo helped lead the Panthers to another 20 win season, as they finished the year with a 21-12 mark.

Softball Earns 20th Win At Wesleyan

The Middlebury softball team earned its third 20-win season as the Panthers took the third game of a three-game set by a score of 10-1 at Wesleyan in a five inning game. The Panthers wrap up their season with a doubleheader at Norwich on Tuesday.

Softball Drops Two At Wesleyan

Middlebury dropped a pair of NESCAC west games at Wesleyan by scores of 9-3 and 4-1. The wins clinch the first-ever berth to the NESCAC post-season tournament for Wesleyan, while eliminating the Panthers from contention.

Softball Drops Game To Hamilton

Hamilton's Amber O'Connor drove in Caitlin McCormick for the game-winning run with a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning as Hamilton defeated Middlebury 8-7 in a NESCAC West Division game played at Utica College's Greenman Field.

The Middlebury @ Wesleyan softball game scheduled for Friday, April 27th has been moved to Sunday, April 29th at 12:00 p.m. The teams will still play two on Saturday, as orginally scheduled.

Softball Sweeps Green Mountain

Middlebury won both games of a double-header against in-state foe Green Mountain on Tuesday. The Panthers won the first game 5-1 and rallied from a 5-1 deficit to win game two 6-5 in eight innings.

Middlebury scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning as the Panthers rallied to win the second game and swept a NESCAC West Division doubleheader against host Hamilton.

Softball Splits With Amherst

Middlebury fell in game one 2-0, but bounced back to earn a 1-0 win in game two, taking two of three from Amherst this weekend. The Panthers move to 15-9 overall and 3-3 in NESCAC play, while the Jeffs are now 12-13 overall and 4-5 in league play.

Middlebury scored two runs in the fifth inning to earn a 3-2 win over Amherst in a NESCAC west league game. The teams return to the diamond on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.

Softball Splits Pair Against Plymouth State

Middlebury split a double-header against visiting Plymouth State on Wednesday, losing game one 13-7 and winning game two 8-2. Middlebury’s record now stands at 13-8, while Plymouth State’s record is 11-10 for the year. Middlebury returns to NESCAC West play, hosting Wesleyan on Friday for the first game of a three-game series against the Cardinals. Plymouth State travels to New England College on Thursday for a two-game showdown.

The Middlebury College softball team dropped two of three games played in Williams on Saturday, after the games were moved due to an unplayable field in Middlebury. The Panthers took game one 2-1, dropped game two 13-9, while falling in the third contest 11-4.

Softball Sweeps Skidmore In Home-Opener

Middlebury won both games against visiting Skidmore by scores of 9-3 and 8-0, the latter was shortened to five innings due to score differential. The Panthers improved their record to 9-5 with the twin-bill victories, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 5-11 on the season. Middlebury opens NESCAC West action when they travel to Hamilton on Friday for the first game of a three-game series. Skidmore will host Castleton State for a double-header on Wednesday.

Softball Team Goes 7-5 On Spring Trip

The Middlebury College softball team earned a 7-5 mark over a dozen games in Ft. Myers, Florida on the team’s annual spring break trip.

The Panthers opened the season with a 10-8 loss to Bethel in nine innings. Junior Katelyn Cannella (Pleasantville, N.Y.) went 2-4 with three runs scored, senior Susan Miranowski (St. Paul, Minn.) was 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBI, while senior Jennifer Williams (Scarborough, Maine) also had a pair of hits.
