Hatfield Earns NESCAC Honors - Competes At Nationals With Shanon

Middlebury College women’s squash player Sally Hatfield (Barrington, R.I.) has earned All-NESCAC honors. The league named its first All-NESCAC squad this season, with 10 players earning honors.

Women's Squash Falls In Walker Cup Final

The Middlebury women's squash team had an impressive showing at the Walker Cup hosted by Princeton over the weekend. The Panthers swept St. Lawrence 9-0 in a quarterfinal match, before defeating William Smith 7-2 in the semifinals. Middlebury fell 7-2 to Vassar in the title match, despite a great effort. Caroline Woodworth led the Panthers with a 3-0 record over the weekend.

Women's Squash Heads To Walker Cup

The women's squash team is headed to the nationals (Walker Cup) this weekend at Princeton. Middlebury will take part in the eight-team "C" flight, and battle St. Lawrence at 2:30 on Friday in the quarterfinals.

Middlebury Challenges At NESCAC's

The Middlebury College women’s squash team competed in the NESCAC Championship hosted by Trinity over the weekend. The Panthers fell to Amherst 5-4 in the first round before heading to the consolation bracket. Middlebury then bounced back with a 7-2 wins over Wesleyan and Connecticut College.

Women's Squash To Compete For NESCAC Title

Trinity College, the defending NESCAC Women’s Squash Champions, will look to capture its second-straight title this weekend during the 2008 NESCAC Women’s Squash Championship. The three-day event begins Friday afternoon with first round action at Trinity’s George A. Kellner Squash Center in Hartford, Conn. The tournament continues throughout the weekend with championship bracket matches taking place at Trinity and consolation matches at Wesleyan’s Rosenbaum Squash Center. The 2008 NESCAC Women’s Squash Championship concludes with the final match on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 2:00 p.m.

Women's Squash Returns To Yale

The Panther women’s squash team played five matches last week, including an 8-1 win over St. Lawrence to start the week. Middlebury spent its second straight weekend at Yale, going 2-2. Middlebury lost to Bates 9-0 and Bowdoin 8-1, before bouncing back with a 9-0 win over Franklin & Marshall and a 6-3 victory over Connecticut College.

The Middlebury women's squash team earned a convincing 8-1 win over St. Lawrence in a match played on campus. The Panthers lost just 40 of 216 games in the eight victorious matches they played.

Women's Squash In Action At Yale

The Middlebury College women’s squash returned to action this weekend with three matches at Yale. The Panthers cruised past Wesleyan 9-0, before falling 6-3 to Amherst. Middlebury ended the weekend the next day with a 9-0 loss to fourth-ranked Yale. Junior Caroline Woodworth (Princeton, N.J.), along with sophomores Brooke Beatt (W. Hartford, Conn.) and Lee McKenna (Weybridge, Vt.) ended the weekend with 2-1 marks.

Women's Squash Opens Winter Season

The Panthers women’s squash team opened up its season by splitting a pair of matches in the Boston area over the weekend. Middlebury opened the season with a 6-3 win over Northeastern, before falling to Tufts, 8-1. Junior Sarah Hatfield (Barrington, R.I.) went 2-0 on the weekend to lead the team.

Illig Named Head Coach Of Men's & Women's Varsity Squash

Director of Athletics Erin Quinn announced today the hiring of John Illig as the head coach of the men’s and women’s squash programs at Middlebury. Illig comes to Middlebury from Bates College, where he has served as the head coach of both programs for the last 11 years.
