The Middlebury College women's volleyball team has established itself as one of the more solid programs in New England. Just five years after earning varsity status, the women's volleyball team was making its first NCAA Tournament appearance in the fall of '98. The Panthers have also captured two NESCAC Championships, and were selected to play in the '97, '99 and '00 ECAC Tournaments. Middlebury has also qualified for every NESCAC Tournament since the tourney's existence.

The women's volleyball season begins in early September and ends with the NESCAC Tournament in early November. With an NCAA Tournament bid, the season may be extended midway through November. The squad usually practices two hours a day, five days a week, while competing in approximately 25-30 matches per season.

The team plays a combination of Division II and III opponents. Last season's team played in three invitational tournaments during the regular season, as well as the NESCAC and ECAC Championships.
