February 21, 2004

2/21/04 - The Panther women's basketball team ended its season with a 66-53 loss at Wesleyan in the NESCAC quarterfinals. The seventh-seeded Middlebury squad turned the ball over 20 times in the contest, as second-seeded Wesleyan shot .453 from the floor en route to the win. Elyse Carlson led the Panthers with 21 points on the afternoon. (box)

2/14/04 - Despite a loss to Bates, Middlebury has clinched a spot in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament. The Panthers were the seventh-seed and will travel to #2 Weselayn to take on Cardinals next Saturday in the quarterfinals.

February 13, 2004

2/13/04 - Tufts shot 50 percent from the floor as they came away with a 77-62 win over Middlebury in Pepin Gym. The Jumbos held a slim lead for most of the game until they closed the contest on a 14-4 run. Alexis Hollinger led Middlebury with 18 points, while Alexis Batten added 13 points and 14 rebounds. (box)

February 7, 2004

2/7/04 - Middlebury shot .613 from the floor in the second half on its way to an 80-58 win at Connecticut College. The Panthers held a double-digit lead for a majority of the second half, including a game-high 25-point lead. Alexis Hollinger led Middlebury with 19 points and a dozen boards, while Kate Fehsenfeld and Elyse Carlson added 14 points apiece. (box)

2/6/04 - Wesleyan jumped out to a 13-point halftime lead and never looked back as they picked up a 70-57 win over Middlebury. The Cardinals were hot from the floor, shooting 50 percent on the night. Alexis Hollinger led Middlebury with 17 points and 11 boards, while Kate Fehsenfeld added 16 points.  (box)

2/3/04 - Hamilton jumped out to a 25-9 lead on its way to an 80-60 non-league win over Middlebury. Despite shooting just .303 from the floor, the Panthers cut the lead to 15 in the second half. Kate Fehsenfeld led the team with 15 points, while Alexis Hollinger added 12 points and 11 rebounds. (box)

1/31/04 - Middlebury took the top-ranked team in the nation down to the wire, but could not hold on as Bowdoin defeated the Panthers, 60-53. (box)

1/30/04 - Middlebury went on a 26-6 second half run as they picked up a 76-67 NESCAC win over Colby. Elyse Carlson had three three's during run, finishing the night with 17 points. Kate Fehsenfeld led the Panthers with 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the floor. (box)

1/27/04 - Middlebury went on an 11-2 second half run as they picked up a 64-48 win over Plattsburgh. Kate Fehsenfeld led the Panthers with 19 points, while Alexis Batten added 16. (box)

January 24, 2004

1/24/04 - Lacy Hebert tied the school record (Whitney Williams '94) with 14 assists as Middlebury thumped Trinity, 87-57. A 14-2 run midway through the first half gave the Panthers a 32-15 lead at the 5:29 mark. The lead increased to a game-high 30 late in the contest as the Panthers picked up a NESCAC road win. Alexis Batten led Middlebury with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Alexis Hollinger scored 20 points and grabbed 18 boards. (box)

1/23/04 - Amherst jumped out to a 13-4 lead over Middlebury, eventually holding a 32-24 lead at the break. The lead was cut to seven early in the second half before the Jeffs went on a 9-0 run to take a 16-point lead on their way to the 77-64 win. Alexis Batten led Middlebury with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Kate Fehsenfeld added 15. (box)

1/20/04 - Middlebury continued to struggle from the floor as they fell to Union, 64-49 at the Pepin Gym. Union jumped out to a 10-3 lead and increased it to 11 in the second half before Middlebury went on a 13-2 run to tie the game at 37. Elyse Carlson hit three three's during the run for the Panthers. Union came back later in the half with a 13-2 run to earn the win. Carlson led the Panthers with 17, while Alexis Batten added 12. (box)

1/17/04 - Middlebury shot just .148 from the floor in the first half as they dropped their NESCAC opener to Williams, 62-49. The Panthers cut the lead to 10 in the second half, but that's as close as they'd come. Alexis Batten and Elyse Carlson scored 10 points apiece to lead the Panthers. (box)
