3/3/05 - <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College women's basketball player Elyse Carlson (Braintree, Mass.) has been named to the All-NESCAC second-team. The senior led the Panthers in scoring this season, playing in all 25 games as Middlebury made its fifth straight NESCAC Tournament appearance.

2/19/05 - The Middlebury College women's basketball team saw its season come to an end as they fell 81-44 at Williams in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. The Panthers end their season with an 11-14 mark.

February 15, 2005

2/15/05 - The Middlebury College women's basketball team will take part in the NESCAC Women's Basketball Tournament this Saturday. The Panthers will travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts to take on Williams in a quarterfinal match-up at 3:00 p.m. The appearance is the fifth straight for Middlebury, in the five years of the tournament's existence. Middlebury has been eliminated from the tournament in the first round three times, advancing to the title game in '02.

February 12, 2005

2/12/05 - Middlebury clinched the sixth spot for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament as they defeated Colby, 66-59. The Panthers will take on third-seeded Williams next Saturday in a quarterfinal match-up.

2/11/05 - Middlebury hung tough for the first half, but fell 74-50 in a NESCAC contest at third-ranked Bowdoin. The Panthers led 10-9 before Bowdoin came back strong to take a 34-19 lead with 2:16 left in the first half.

February 8, 2005

2/8/05 - Plattsburgh hit a free throw with no time on the clock to give the Cardinals a 59-58 win over Middlebury in New York. The Cardinals opened the game with a 12-0 run, and took a 10-point lead into the halftime break.

2/5/05 - Middlebury earned a split on the NESCAC weekend as they fell to Amherst 58-54. The Panthers held a five point first half lead, but trailed by three at the break.

February 4, 2005

2/4/05 - Middlebury held Trinity to .282 shooting from the floor as the Panthers improved to 3-3 in NESCAC play with a 60-49 win over the Bantams in Pepin Gym. Middlebury jumped out to an 11-3 lead and took a 37-24 lead into the halftime break, led by 12 points on five of six shooting from Katie Fisher.

February 1, 2005

2/1/05 - The Panther women's basketball team fell to 9-10 on the season as they lost a non-league game to Hamilton, 63-52. The Continentals closed the first half on a 9-3 run to take a 28-25 lead into the halftime break.

1/29/05 - Middlebury saw a two-game winning streak come to an end as they fell 81-65 to Williams in a NESCAC match-up in Mass. The Ephs shot .487 from the floor in the first half, closing it on a 25-4 run to take a 46-25 halftime lead.

January 27, 2005

1/27/05 - Elyse Carlson hit a three from the left wing with five seconds left to give Middlebury a 54-51 win over Keene State in the Pepin Gym. The Owls had a chance to tie the contest with a three at the buzzer, but the shot was off target.

1/25/04 - Injuries have struck the Middlebury women's basketball team in a tough way. Juniors Lacey Hebert (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Keene, N.H.) and Kate Fehsenfeld (Zionsville, Ind.) are both out for the season after suffering season-ending injuries. Hebert was injured during the Colby-Sawyer game on January 6th, while Fehsenfeld suffered a season-ending injury at Union on January 18th.

1/22/05 - Middlebury moved to 2-2 in NESCAC play as they picked up a solid 68-59 win at Tufts. The Panthers return to action when they host Keene State on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

January 21, 2005

1/21/05 - Middlebury moved to 1-2 in NESCAC play as they suffered a 75-50 loss at #9 Bates. The Bobcats came out strong, scoring the game's first 13 points. The lead grew to as many as 23, before the Panthers closed the half on a 10-4 run to trail by 17 at the break.

January 18, 2005

1/18/05 - Middlebury fell to 7-7 on the season as a late comeback fell short at Union, as the Panthers fell 62-54. Union came out strong, taking a 17-7 lead that grew to 31-12 with 3:54 left in the first half.

January 15, 2005

1/15/05 - Middlebury fell to 1-1 in NESCAC play as they lost a 75-54 decision to Wesleyan. The Cardinals outscored the Panthers 17-4 from the foul line and hit on six of eight three's en route to the win. Five three's by Wesleyan's Sue Frost gave them a 42-26 halftime lead. The Panthers cut the lead to 13 early in the second half, but that's as close as they'd come. Elyse Carlson led the Panthers with 12 points, while Kate Fehsenfeld scored 10.

January 14, 2005

1/15/05 - Middlebury opened up its NESCAC schedule strong as they defeated Connecticut College 65-50 at the Pepin Gym. The Camels held the lead for the entire first half, taking a 25-23 lead into the intermission.

January 8, 2005

1/8/05 - Middlebury opened the second half with a 16-3 run on its way to a 65-56 win at Clarkson. The Panthers held the lead for the remainder of the game as they earned the road win. Elyse Carlson led the Panthers with 17 points, Kate Fehsenfeld added 14, while Micaela McVary had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Maryanne Verzosa dished out nine assists in the Middlebury win.

January 6, 2005

1/6/05 - Middlebury opened its second semester with a 66-51 loss at Colby-Sawyer. The Chargers opened the second half with a 13-4 run over the first eight minutes to break open a 35-33 halftime lead. Colby-Sawyer outscored the Panthers, 31-18, in the second half, leading by as many as 19 points.

December 11, 2004

12/11/04 - Middlebury won its fourth straight game to finish the semester 5-4 as they defeated Rensselaer, 74-56. The Panthers do not return to action until January 6th at Colby-Sawyer.

December 8, 2004

12/8/04 - Middlebury improved to .500 on the season with a 78-38 win over Green Mountain College. The Panthers closed the first half on a 10-0 run to take a 39-16 lead into the halftime break. The lead grew to a game-high 42 points late in the game, with the Middlebury defense forcing 26 turnovers on the night. Alanna Young led the team with 14 points on six of nine shooting, Elyse Carlson scored 11, while Kate Fehsenfeld added 10. Micaela McVary grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in the win.

December 7, 2004

12/7/04 - Middlebury improved to 3-4 on the season as they defeated Plymouth State 65-56 in the Pepin Gym. The Panthers jumped out to a 15-5 lead before going on a 15-0 run midway through the first half to take a 34-14 advantage.

12/4/04 - Middlebury picked up a solid 65-42 win over St. Lawrence in a game played at <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Williams College. The Panthers jumped out early in the game with a 33-16 halftime lead. Middlebury was hot from the floor in the second half, shooting .556, while connecting at .468 for the game. Kate Fehsenfeld scored 22 points to lead the team, Elyse Carlson scored 21, while Alanna Young grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

12/3/04 - Middlebury committed 27 turnovers as they fell 79-63 at Williams. The Panthers played a strong second half, shooting .520 from the floor, but it wasn't enough. Kate Fehsenfeld led the team with 21 points on six of eight shooting from the floor. Alanna Young added 17 points and eight boards on seven of 11 shooting, while Elyse Carlson netted 14.

November 30, 2004

11/30/04 - Middlebury picked up its first win of the season as they earned a 59-47 victory at Castleton. The Panthers led by six before the Spartans closed the first half on a 13-0 run to take a 27-20 lead into the break. With the game tied at 36 in the second half, Middlebury went on a 9-0 run to take a 45-36 lead. The margin grew to as many as 14 with the Panthers coming away with the win. Elyse Carlson led Middlebury with 14 points and nine rebounds, Alanna Young added 12 points and nine rebounds on six of nine shooting, while Micaela McVary added 12 points and eight boards.

November 23, 2004

11/23/04 - Middlebury fell to 0-3 on the season after a 65-51 loss to Norwich in the Panthers home-opener. The teams exchanged 7-0 runs to start the game before a 15-5 run midway through the second half gave Norwich a 45-34 lead. Middlebury cut the lead to three in the last five minutes, but the Cadets closed the game on a 12-3 run to seal the win. Kate Fehsenfeld and Micaela McVary led the team with 11 points apiece.

November 21, 2004

11/21/04 - Middlebury dropped its second straight tight game of the season as they fell to Scranton 74-69 in the consolation game of the Babson Invitational Tournament. The Beavers held a 43-28 edge on the boards, despite 18 turnovers. The Panthers shot a solid .435 from the floor, but it wasn't enough as they fell to 0-2. Elyse Carlson led the team with 17 points, Kate Fehsenfeld added 16, while Micaela McVary netted 15.

November 20, 2004

11/20/04 - Middlebury came up short in its season opener as they fell 66-63 to the host school at the Babson Invitational. Kate Fehsenfeld and Elyse Carlson each had 15 points for the Panthers, while Micaela McVary scored nine points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
