NESCAC Tourney Up Next For Women's Hoops

2/15/05 - The Middlebury College women's basketball team will take part in the NESCAC Women's Basketball Tournament this Saturday. The Panthers will travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts to take on Williams in a quarterfinal match-up at 3:00 p.m. The appearance is the fifth straight for Middlebury, in the five years of the tournament's existence. Middlebury has been eliminated from the tournament in the first round three times, advancing to the title game in '02.

Middlebury enters the game with an 11-13 record, having earned the sixth seed with a 4-5 NESCAC mark. Elyse Carlson has had the hot hand of late, leading the team with 14.2 points/game this season, while grabbing 5.6 rebounds/contest. Micaela McVary is next on the scoring list for the Panthers with 9.3 ppg, while leading the team with 7.8 rpg. Rookie Alanna Young is third on the team with 6.7 ppg, while ranking second with 7.5 rpg.

Williams enters the game with an 18-6 overall record and a 7-2 mark in NESCAC play. Maggie Miller (15.6 ppg) and Colleen Hession (15.2 ppg) lead the team in scoring.

The two teams have met twice this season, with Williams winning both contests. The Ephs earned a 79-63 non-league win on December 3rd, while picking up an 81-65 victory in a NESCAC contest on January 29th.
