Women's Basketball Wins Fourth Straight

12/11/04 - Middlebury won its fourth straight game to finish the semester 5-4 as they defeated Rensselaer, 74-56. The Panthers do not return to action until January 6th at Colby-Sawyer.
The Panthers jumped out to a 9-0 lead before the Red Hawks battled back to take a five-point lead with 6:57 left in the first half. Middlebury closed the half on a 14-4 run to take a 39-30 lead into the halftime break.
Middlebury extended its lead to as many as 21 in the second half, helped in part by 20 second chance points in the contest. The Panthers dominated the boards 48-32, as they came away with the 74-56 win.
Elyse Carlson led Middlebury in scoring with 17, Maryanne Verzosa and Kate Fehsenfeld each had 11, while Lacey Hebert added 10. Alanna Young had another big game on the boards, grabbing 18 to increase her average to 8.3/game on the season. Micaela McVary was also a force on the glass with 13 boards, upping her averaged to 8.0/game.
