Women's Basketball Falls To E. Conn.

Middlebury opened the second half of the season with a 62-56 loss to Eastern Connecticut in the Pepin Gym. The Panthers return to action on Thursday at Colby-Sawyer, while E. Conn. hosts Rhode Island College on Saturday.

The Warriors led by one at the 13:41 mark before going on an 11-2 run to take a 21-11 lead with 8:09 remaining in the first half. The lead grew to as many as 11 before the Panthers closed the half on a 10-2 run to trail 30-27 at the intermission.

Middlebury came within one three times in the second half before E. Conn. slowly increased its lead to 12 with 4:15 remaining. The Panthers battled back to within five, but could get no closer as the Warriors held on for the win.

Ashley Barron led Middlebury with 20 points, Emily Johnson added 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Lani Young scored 10.

Sandy Mosley went 11 of 18 for a game-high 26 points and nine rebounds for E. Conn. Nicky Morey added 14 points and five assists in the win, while Bridget Durette grabbed nine boards.
