Women's Hoops Falls at Rensselaer

Rensselaer built a seven point first half lead and held on to defeat Middlebury 62-55 at Robison Gym, this afternoon. The Panthers struggled from the floor, shooting just .306 on the afternoon. 

After falling behind, 2-0, the Red Hawks scored the next six points, and never trailed again. Leading by as many as nine points, Rensselaer took a 32-25 lead in halftime.

A pair of Missy Jackman free-throws with 11:31 remaining in the game gave the Red Hawks their largest lead of the game at 49-36.

The Panthers cut the Rensselaer lead to 54-48 with 8:04 to play on an Emily Johnson lay-up. Tory Lyons pushed the Red Hawks advantage to 10 points with just under two minutes to go.

Lyons led all scorers with 18 points, while grabbing eight rebounds. Jackman added 15 points, six boards and three assists, while Elizabeth Barker recorded 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Katie Fisher paced Middlebury with 16 points. She was followed by Johnson and Lani Young, who had 13 points apiece.
