Women's Hoops Ends Semester With Convincing Win Over Smith

Middlebury ended its first semester with a 6-1 mark as the Panthers defeated Smith (2-5) 83-51 in Pepin Gym. Middlebury returns to action on January 3rd at Eastern Connecticut.

The Panthers came out strong, taking an 11-2 lead early behind three three's from Ashley Barron. Middlebury led 31-15 with 3:41 remaining in the first half, before going on a 6-0 spurt to end the session and take a 37-15 lead into the intermission. Middlebury held Smith to just five field goals and .156 shooting from the floor in the first half.

Middlebury shot an impressive .556 from the floor in the second half, netting 46 points as they came away with the 83-51 win.

Ashley Barron led the team with 14 points, Katie Fisher scored 10, while Emily Johnson had nine points, six assists and four steals. Aylie Baker scored eight points with eight boards to aid in the effort.

Berit Schelde led Smith with 11, while Megan Kiefer scored nine.
