Women's Basketball Opens With Win

The Middlebury women's basketball team opened its season with an 81-71 win over Nazareth at the SUNY-Brockport Tournament. Lauren Sanchez scored a career-high 30 points in the win, going 9 of 13 from the floor, 12 of 14 from the free throw line, while picking up four steals.

The Panthers shot .491 from the floor on the night, including .548 in the first half as they held a 38-37 lead at the intermission. Middlebury picked up 13 steals in the game, led by Sanchez' four.

Stephany Surrette added 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the game, followed by Katie Pett with 11 and Maddie Moreau with 10. Jesse Miller picked up six points and eight boards in the win.
