Women's Basketball Pulls Away From J&W

Middlebury broke open a five-point game in the second half on its way to a 75-40 win over Johnson & Wales in Pepin Gym. The Panther defense forced 22 turnovers in the game, holding the Wildcats to 0-13 shooting from behind the arc. Middlebury improves to 4-0 on the season with the victory, while J&W falls to 0-2.
Leading 14-12 midway through the first half, Middlebury went on a 10-0 run to take a 24-12 lead with 7:28 left to play. Kate Logan hit a two and three during the run, while Brittany Perfetti scored four points. The Panthers led 33-23 at the half, converting 11 of 14 free throws.
J&W went on a 7-0 spurt early in the second half with all points coming from Marina Millian as the Wildcats cut the lead to 35-30 with 18:02 left to play. The Panthers slowly increased their advantage, holding a 49-34 lead midway through the half. Middlebury went on to outscore J&W 26-5 in the final 10:00 of the game to emerge with the 35-point win.
Sarah Marcus led Middlebury with 14 points, Lauren Sanchez added 12, while Perfetti and Stephany Surrette each scored 10. Jesse Miller added eight points and a game-high 12 boards in the win.
Millian led all scorers with 18, Jenna Juron scored 10, while Morgan Wilson added eight points and seven rebounds.
