Women's Hoops Ends Semester 6-0

Middlebury improved to 6-0 for the first time since ’01-’02 as the Panthers ended the first semester with a 65-57 win at Union. The Panthers shot .520 from the floor in the second half and outscored the Dutchwomen 21-4 from the free throw line in the game. The Middlebury defense forced 32 turnovers in the game.
Middlebury led by five early, before Union outscored Middlebury 17-5 over the next 10 minutes to take a 25-16 lead with 3:39 left in the half. The Panthers trailed by as many as nine in the second half before going on a 9-0 run at the 16:05 mark to tie the game at 37-37. Union briefly regained the lead before Middlebury’s Brittany Perfetti scored at the 11:46 mark to put the Panthers on top for good.
The game remained tight until the final few minutes, when a three-point play from Lauren Sanchez gave her team a seven-point lead with 2:58 remaining. Middlebury made 7 of 10 free throws down the stretch to secure the 65-57 win.
Maddie Moreau led the Panthers with 20 points for the second straight game, tying her career high. Tracy Borsinger scored a career-best 15 in the win, while Sanchez added 13 points, six steals and four assists.
Leah Pepe led Union with 19, Shayla Madden netted 13, while Lauren McCormick scored 10.
