Women's Basketball Falls At Bates

The Middlebury women’s basketball team dropped its second straight game as the Panthers fell 72-58 in a NESCAC road game at Bates. Middlebury falls to 9-3 overall, while the Bobcats improve to 12-4. The Panthers return to action on Tuesday night when they host Hamilton at 7:00.

The Panthers trailed 29-21 late in the first half, before coming on strong to trail 35-30 at the intermission.

Middlebury cut the lead to three at 35-32 early in the second half, before a 10-2 run gave Bates a 45-34 advantage at the 15:18 mark.  The Bobcats went on a decisive 15-5 run at the 10:22 mark, taking a 67-51 lead with 4:04 left to play.

Lauren Sanchez led the Panthers with 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Katie Pett added 11 points and seven boards. Maddie Moreau chipped in with 11 points, while Tracy Borsinger added nine.

Christine McCall led Bates with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Allie Beaulieu added 14 points and nine boards.

Middlebury shot 31% from the floor and connected on just 4 of 16 three-point attempts in the game.
