Women's Basketball Falls At Bowdoin

Middlebury saw Bowdoin pull away in the second half for a 60-40 win over the Panthers on Friday evening at Morrell Gymnasium. Three players reached double-figures for the Polar Bears, who improve to 12-8 (3-4 NESCAC) on the season. Middlebury falls to 10-10 (2-5 NESCAC) with the setback.
Shannon Brady scored 12 points in the win for Bowdoin while Siena Mitman scored 11 off the bench. Megan Phelps added 10 points and nine rebounds for Bowdoin. Middlebury was led by 13 points from Tracy Borsinger, while Scarlett Kirk pitched in 10 points and six rebounds. Jesse Miller pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Bowdoin carried a six-point edge into halftime but the Panthers were able to trim the lead to four points, 35-31, following a free throw from Katie Pett with 15:52 to go in the second half. Sara Binkhorst answered with a three-pointer for Bowdoin to push the lead back to seven points and Bowdoin used a decisive 14-0 surge over a five-minute span to take a commanding 54-33 lead with 6:46 to go.
The Polar Bears held the Panthers to 24% shooting in the second half and 28% shooting for the game while connecting on 43% of their own attempts. Bowdoin held a 42-35 edge on the glass and converted 17 points off of 15 Middlebury turnovers.
The Panthers will travel to Waterville to play at Colby at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bowdoin will host Williams at Morrell Gymnasium at 4:00 p.m.
