Women's Golf Opens Fall Season

9/18/05 - The Panther women's golf team opened up the '05 season by competing in a 17-team invitational hosted by <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Dartmouth. Middlebury placed 10th overall with a two-day total of 676, while Columbia won the event with a 610. The Panthers were one of only four Division III teams competing.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Leading Middlebury on the opening weekend was junior Kerry Ortega (Clinton, N.Y.) with a two-day total of 161, placing her 27th overall. Middlebury's next four golfers were in a tight pack with rookie Julie Ellenberger (Concord, Mass.) leading the pack with a 172. Next for the Panthers was junior Allison Ortega (Clinton, N.Y) and sophomore Tory MacNeil (Massey, Ont.) each with a 172, followed by sophomore Karen Levin (Morton Grove, Ill.) with a 174.
