Women's Golf Wins Invitational

The Middlebury College women's golf team captured the 2008 Middlebury College Women's Golf Invitational Tournament with a two-day total of 648. The Panthers sliced 16 strokes off their day one score with a 316 on the final day of the tournament. NESCAC foe Amherst placed second with a 667, followed by Mt. Holyoke in third with a 673. Hayley Milbourn of Amherst earned medalist honors with an 82 and 75 (157) on the par 71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course on campus. Middlebury sophomores Courtney Mazzei (Larkin Valley, Calif.) and Jessica Bluestein (Tucson, Ariz.) each shot a 150 to tie for second place, followed by Alexandra Irish of Mt. Holyoke and Lindsay Cone of St. Lawrence in a fourth place tie (160).
First-year player Flora Weeks (Seattle, Wash.) came in sixth for the Panthers with a 162, followed by senior Julie Ellenberger (Concord, Mass.) in 11th (168) and sophomore Elizabeth Hirsch (New York, N.Y.) in 31st (194).
