3/19/04 - Three members of the Middlebury College women's hockey team were named to AHCA (American Hockey Coaches Association) All-American team today. First-year player Shannon Tarrant (Brookfield, Conn.) earned first-team honors, while junior Lorna Gifis (Princeton, N.J.) and sophomore Emily Quizon (Chino Hills, Calif.) were both named to the second team. The threesome have helped lead Middlebury to a 22-4 record as they host the final four on March 19-20th.

Tarrant earns first-team All-American status in just her first season as a Panther. She helped lead a Middlebury defense that allowed a mere 1.31 goals/game this season. She was also heavily involved in the scoring as she had 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points on the season. Her 24 points rank her third on the team, while her four power play goals place her second.

Gifis has led the team in scoring for much of the season. She has six power play goals on the season to lead a team which leads the nation with a 29 percent effective power play. The junior leads the team with 25 goals and 46 points to go along with her 21 assists and four game-winning goals.

Quizon also earns second-team honors in just her second season with Middlebury. She trails Gifis by just two points for the team-lead with 44 on the season. Quizon is second in the nation with 1.15 assists/game, while leading her team with 30 to go along with her 14 goals on the year.
