February 26, 2005

2/26/05 - Middlebury had little trouble with Trinity as they defeated the Bantams 6-0 in a NESCAC Tournament first round game. The Panthers advance to the NESCAC semifinals next weekend at Bowdoin, where they will take on Williams. The host school meets Hamilton in the other semifinal match-up. Trinity ends its season at 9-13-1.

Trinity opened the game with a great chance to score just 45 seconds in, but Megan Fallon's breakaway was stopped by Kate Kogut. The Panthers got the offense rolling at 6:24, with three goals in a 4:04 span. Lorna Gifis opened the scoring by stuffing home a rebound after a shot from Shannon Tarrant. Lacey Farrell made it a 2-0 game as she skated in on the left side before snapping a shot to the top corner. Alison Graddock whacked a rebound out of mid-air at 10:28 for the team's third goal of the period. Emily Quizon made it a 4-0 game as she one-timed a crossing pass from Gifis for the power play goal at 18:04.

Margaret MacDonald scored the only goal of the second period at 15:47, as she one-timed a quick crossing pass from Gloria Velez. Emily McNamara scored the third period's only goal as she ripped a slap shot home from the top of the rings.
