Mandigo Becomes All-Time Leader As Midd. Tops Colby

2/12/05 - Middlebury head coach Bill Mandigo became the all-time leader in wins among all NCAA women's hockey coaches as the Panthers topped Colby, 5-3. The 17-year head coach now holds a career mark of 295-82-11 (.774), surpassing John Marchetti's 294 wins amassed at <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Providence and Yale from '81-'02 (294-173-26 - .623). The Panthers tied for the top spot in the latest Division III national poll.

Middlebury scored three unanswered goals in the second period on its way to the win. Lorna Gifis led the Middlebury attack with a pair of goals, while Abby Kurtz-Phelan had a goal and an assist. Emily Quizon and Alison Graddock dished out two assists apiece in the win. Heather DeVito had two goals and an assist for Colby, while Jennifer McAleer added a pair of assists.

Kate Kogut and Angie Todd combined to make 10 saves in goal, while Genevieve Triganne made 44 saves for Colby.
