Women's Hockey Blanks Amherst

January 29, 2005

1/29/05 - Middlebury broke open a 2-0 game with three third period goals on its way to a 5-0 win at Amherst. Lorna Gifis notched a pair of goals as the Panthers improved to 15-1-1 (11-0-1 NESCAC).

Amherst's defense stood strong for the first 17 minutes of play, but the Middlebury finally got on the board as senior Allison Liati caught the puck coming down the middle and fired it into the left side of the net for the 1-0 edge. Alison Graddock capitalized on a power play 53 seconds into the second frame, stuffing home a rebound. Gifis tallied both her scores in the third period, while Emily McNamara capped the Panthers' scoring with a short-handed goal with just over five minutes left in regulation.

Kate Kogut made 14 saves for the shutout for Middlebury.
