Women's Hockey Hands Bowdoin 9-1 Loss

The top-ranked Middlebury College women's ice hockey team scored four goals in the first period and never looked back, extending their winning streak to 23 games with a 9-1 win at eighth-ranked Bowdoin on Saturday. The Panthers are Division III's only unbeaten, and move to 15-0-0 on the season, while Bowdoin drops to 10-6-0.

Abby Kurtz-Phelan scored Middlebury's first two goals of the night, coming just 14 seconds apart at 4:21 and 4:35 into the contest. Liz Yale-Loehr added a score at 15:42 and Annmarie Cellino scored at 17:36 as the Panthers raced out to a four-goal edge. Tania Kenny added a powerplay goal in the second frame before Cellino scored her second of the night with 54 ticks left in the period to give Middlebury a 6-0 lead. Emily Quizon added a pair of third-period scores before Katie Forney knocked home a goal for Bowdoin with 2:06 remaining. Shannon Tarrant added a late score to make it a 9-1 final.

Kate Kogut made 30 saves for Middlebury, while Emileigh Mercer stopped 32 shots for Bowdoin.
