Middlebury Tops Wesleyan

The Middlebury women's hockey team picked up a 4-1 road win in game one of a two-game set at Wesleyan. The teams resume play on Sunday at 1:00.

Following a scoreless first period, Erika Nakamura struck twice in the second period to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Abby Kurtz-Phelan made it a 3-0 contest with a power play goal 1:42 into the third period. Wesleyan broke up the shutout at 13:35, with Gloria Velez making it a 4-1 game just 20 seconds later.

Abby Smith made 16 saves to earn the win as Middlebury out shot Wesleyan 55-17 on the night.
