December 1, 2006
Middlebury improved to 4-1 on the season as the three-time defending NCAA Champions defeated Connecticut College 6-0 in the team's home-opener. The Panthers scored three second period goals to put the game out of reach, out shooting the Camels 38-10 on the night.
Middlebury took a 1-0 lead just 1:08 into the game with a power play goal. Ashley Bairos found the back of the net as her shot trickled through the pads of Lauren Mellen. The Panthers took a 2-0 lead at 16:50 as Bairos scored another power play goal, this one from the left point.
Shannon Sylvester put home a rebound after a Molly Vitt shot 4:26 into the second period to make it a 3-0 game. Just over three minutes later, Clare Zutz found Randi Dumont in the low slot for a goal, before Emily Nakamura made it a 5-0 game when she scored on her own rebound at 14:04 in the second period.
Middlebury's Jessica Bennett scored the only goal of third period as she slid a shot over the goal line after Nakamura's shot had been saved.
