Women's Hockey Earns Shutout Win Over Colby

Middlebury improved its unbeaten streak to nine games (8-0-1) as the Panthers earned a 4-0 NESCAC win over Colby in Kenyon Arena. Rookie goaltender Lexi Bloom was impressive in goal, making 21 saves to earn her second shutout of the season. Middlebury returns to action on Tuesday night when they host Williams.

Middlebury opened the scoring at the 13:10 mark as Erika Nakamura scored on a rebound after a shot from Molly Vitt was saved.

Rebecca Julian had a great chance for Colby at the 17-minute mark of the second period, but her backhander from the slot was saved by Bloom. The Panthers made it a 2-0 game with 1:47 left in the second, as Karen Levin scored on the power play from the point.

Middlebury took a 3-0 lead just 41 seconds into the third on a power play tally from Annmarie Cellino to Randi Dumont. Bloom kept the shutout intact with a big save on Rebecca Julian at 4:30. The Panthers put the game away with 5:42 remaining as Julia Ireland converted a breakaway on the backhand.

Genevieve Triganne made 23 saves between the pipes for the Mules.
