I had a very interesting first visit on campus. My Dad and I drove into campus around 2 in the morning. Instead of staying in a hotel, my financially conscious father thought it would be easier to just park in Kenyon Arena lot and sleep in the car. Despite a terrible sleep, waking up to the sunrise in the morning, and seeing the mountains in the background of the athletic fields was truly breathtaking.
What is the one thing that makes Middlebury College a special place for you?
The friendships I have created with professors, coaches, teammates, and other students have defined my experience at Middlebury. While they have enhanced my time here at Middlebury, I am positive they will continue long after I graduate.
What is your best memory as a player at Middlebury College?
My freshman year, we were playing in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament against Manhattanville College at home. We were trailing 2-0, and we battled back to win the game 4-3 off a goal from senior Gloria Velez. It was truly a team effort in which every person contributed. The following weekend we went on to win the National Championship for the third straight year.
What have you learned from your sport that you will use in your everyday life?
There are many life lessons that I have learned through playing hockey that can translate into my future endeavors. Whether it be working with others to achieve a common goal, or working productively under high-pressure situations. Everyday I learn something new from a teammate or a coach that could never be taught in a classroom, and they have become the lessons I value most.]]>
