Bloom Is NESCAC Player Of The Week

Middlebury College women's hockey goaltender Alexi Bloom (Highland Park, Ill.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. The sophomore goaltender stopped 73 of the 78 shots she faced, a .936 save percentage, as she helped the Panthers win the 2009 NESCAC Women's Ice Hockey Championship over the weekend. After turning aside 21 shots in a 4-2 win over Colby on Saturday during the semifinals, Bloom racked up 52 saves, including 21 in the second period, in a 4-3 overtime win at Amherst on Sunday for the 2009 title. Middlebury has now won five conference championships
