Women's Hockey Takes Game Two From Trinity

Middlebury bounced back after a 2-2 tie on Friday night with a 6-1 win over Trinity in the second meeting between the schools in as many days. Fourteen different players recorded a point in the game for the Panthers, as they improve to 8-1-3 on the year. Trinity falls to 7-3-2 with a loss and a tie on the weekend.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead just 27 seconds into the game as Grace Waters redirected a quick feed from Annmarie Cellino for the goal. The Panthers took a 2-0 advantage at 9:47 as Molly Vitt scored from just outside the crease with an assist from Maggie Melberg.

The lead grew to 3-0 3:14 into the second as Corey Cooper found the back of the net. Trinity got on the board at the 5:43 mark as Michelle Chee redirected a shot for a power play goal. Middlebury answered with a pair of goals to take a 5-1 lead after two periods. Heather McCormack netted the first goal for the Panthers, while Ashley Bairos scored her first of the year.

Middlebury's Alexi Bloom kept it a 5-1 game 14 minutes into the third, as she denied Chee on a breakaway attempt. Just 1:09 later, Nora Bergman netted a power play goal for the Panthers, giving them a 6-1 advantage.

Bloom ended the game with 22 saves, while Isabel Iwachiw made 31 stops for the Bantams.
