Women's Hockey Earns Tie With Conn.

Middlebury remained unbeaten on the season as they earned a 1-1 tie with Connecticut College in the team's home-opener in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers outshot the Camels 50-11 on the night, but were able to get just one shot past Lauren Mellen, who made 49 saves on the night.
Middlebury controlled the first period, holding a 17-6 shots advantage, but saw few quality scoring opportunities.
Connecticut College had a good chance early in the second, but Erin Davey's shot hit the post after Middlebury goaltender Lani Wright got a piece of it.
The Panthers broke through later in the period with a five-on-three goal at the 10:43 mark. Molly Vitt fed the puck to the point to Annmarie Cellino, who quickly found Maggie Melberg down low for the one-timer.
Middlebury had a great chance early in the third, but Nora Bergman's shot hit the far post. Despite being out shot by a sizeable margin, Connecticut College kept coming, eventually tying the game with 2:45 left to play in the third. Erin Davey's shot from the high slot was saved by Wright, before Celia Medeiros poked in the loose puck for the equalizer. The third period ended with Middlebury holding a 42-11 shots advantage as the contest went into overtime.
The Panthers outshot the Camels 8-0 in the overtime, including 50 seconds of power play hockey, but could not pick up the win.
