Women's Hockey Cruises Past Conn. College

Middlebury completed the sweep of a two-game series with Connecticut College (8-9-2, 5-8-1), beating the Camels 4-1 in Kenyon Arena. The seventh-ranked Panthers (15-2-2, 12-2) outshot their opponents 37-9 in the game, with Sara Ugalde earning a goal and two assists.
Ugalde opened the scoring with her team-leading 10th of the year, scoring on a one-timer with a feed from Emily Fluke, her 10th assist of the season. The goal at 8:06 was followed by another tally at the 11:28 mark, this one coming from Maggie Woodward on a breakaway, her eighth of the season.
Katie Moreau scored the first of her career 4:40 into the second period, with a short breakaway after a Camel turnover. Connecticut College got on the board 6:28 into the second, when Ariel DiPasquale scored with a quick open run to the goal in a four-on-four situation. The Panthers ended the period with a 4-1 lead when Grace Waters netted her fifth of the year 11:29 into the frame.
After scoring twice in Friday’s game, Katie Sullivan earned her third of the weekend 1:57 into the third period. Lauren Greer earned an assist after making the pass from behind the goal to Sullivan in the slot. Maggie Melberg netted the game’s final goal from the slot on a four-on-three power play with 9:10 remaining.
Annabelle Jones made five saves in 40 minutes for Middlebury, while Becca Shaw stopped all three shots she faced in the third period. Amy Leichliter (41:57, 5 GA, 22 saves) and Kelsie Fralick (18:03 MP, 1 GA, 9 saves) both saw time for the Camels.
Middlebury finished the game 1-10 on the power play, while Connecticut College was 0-3.
