Women's Lax To Host NCAA Regional

5/12/05 - The Middlebury College women's lacrosse team will make its 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance when they host one of four, four-team Regionals this weekend on Kohn Field. The Panthers will meet <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Nazareth, a 17-5 winner over W. New England, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Bowdon meets Stevens Institute in the other contest at 2:30 p.m. The winners meet at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday in the NCAA Regional Final. The winner advances to the NCAA semifinals/championship next weekend at The College of New Jersey.

Middlebury enters the tournament after finishing the regular season with a 14-1 mark, its only loss coming to top-ranked Salisbury. The Panthers are now 114-4 over their last seven seasons, with five NESCAC Championships and five overall NCAA Championships in '97, '99, '01, '02 and '04. Middlebury has an amazing 26-6 record in NCAA Tournament play, dating back to the spring of '94.

Leading the team in scoring this season have been Elizabeth Renehan (37-16-53), Kim Walker (40-7-47), Claire Edelen (29-12-41), Alison Perencevich (26-14-40) and Schuyler Winstead (20-18-38). In goal, Johanna Rosenfield has a 6.45 GAA.
