Women's Lax Pulls Away To Defeat Bowdoin

Middlebury held Bowdoin scoreless for the game's final 26:26 on its way to a 15-6 NESCAC win on Kohn Field. The second-ranked Panthers move to 6-1 on the season, while #5 Bowdoin loses its second straight, dropping to 7-2.

The first half was tight, with Steph Collins-Finn making several big saves to keep the Polar Bears in the game. The Panthers trailed 2-1 before rattling off five straight goals, two by Schuyler Winstead, to take a 6-2 lead with 9:12 left in the half. Bowdoin scored the next two goals before Middlebury answered to take a 7-4 lead at the intermission.

The Polar Bears opened the second half with two quick goals from Brooke Nentwig and Taylor White to cut the lead to 7-6 with 26:26 remaining. White's goal would be the final of the day for Bowdoin, as Middlebury's Blair Bowie was solid in net, denying every shot on goal for the remainder of the game.

Winstead scored four goals and added two assists to lead Middlebury, while Alison Perencevich and Elizabeth Renehan added three goals apiece. Claire Edelen dished out three assists in the win. White and Kate Donoghue scored two goals apiece to lead Bowdoin.

Bowie ended the day with 14 saves in goal for Middlebury, while Collins-Finn made a dozen on the other end.
