Women's Lacrosse Tops Bowdoin

Middlebury jumped out to an 11-3 halftime lead on its way to a 16-9 NESCAC win over Bowdoin on Kohn Field. The Panthers improve to 27-2 all-time against the Polar Bears, including 26 straight wins. Both teams return to action on Thursday with non-league games, as Middlebury visits Union and Bowdoin travels to Wellesley.
Bowdoin came out strong early, taking a 2-1 lead behind goals from Elizabeth Clegg and Katy Dissinger. The Panthers followed with a 9-0 run to take a 10-2 lead with 7:12 left to play in the first half. Sally Ryan scored three goals during the run, including a great cut to the goal at the 13:06 mark to make it a 5-2 game. Elizabeth Garry scored one of her two goals during the run at the 7:12 mark, with a perfectly placed shot after a feed from Dana Heritage. The run ended with the second goal of the game from Heritage with 2:32 left in the first half.
Lindsay McNamara converted a free position shot for the Polar Bears to open the second half, before Heritage and Ryan each scored to give the Panthers a 13-4 advantage with 19:35 left to play. Bowdoin followed with a 4-0 run to get back in the game. Clegg netted the first two on free positions, before Katie Herter scored the next pair, including a bounce shot on her second goal that cut the lead with 13-8 with 11:45 remaining.
Middlebury answered by scoring three of the game's final four goals to seal the 16-9 victory. Chase Delano scored twice in the span, with her first tally followed immediately by Lindsay McBride on the ensuing draw control.
Ryan and Heritage each scored four goals to pace the Panthers, followed by three from Garry, and two apiece for Delano and McBride. Heritage and Ryan also each had two helpers in the game. Clegg led Bowdoin with four tallies, followed by Lindsay McNamara and Herter with two apiece.
Blair Bowie made 11 saves in goal to pick up the win, while Steph Collins-Finn made three stops for the Polar Bears.
