Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Conn. College

Elizabeth Garry and Chase Delano scored four goals each to lead the fourth ranked Middlebury College women's lacrosse team (4-0, 3-0) to a 19-6 triumph against Connecticut College (2-4, 0-3) in New London Saturday. Dana Heritage chipped in with three goals and an assist for the Panthers, who out-shot the Camels 36-18 in the win. Connecticut College sophomore Abby Hill tallied two goals and an assist in the NESCAC contest, while Katelyn Driscoll accounted for two scores in the setback.

The Camels took a 3-2 lead on a score from Hill at the 21:32 mark of the first half. But the Panthers put together a 5-0 run in a span of 4:57 to pull away from the hosts. Garry netted her third goal of the half to cap the rally with 7:45 remaining and the Panthers enjoyed a 7-3 advantage.

Middlebury scored three of the next four goals to take a 10-4 lead at the break. The Panthers continued to pull away in the second stanza, accounting for the first five goals in the frame on their way to the 19-6 victory.

Senior net-minder Blaire Bowie stopped 11 Connecticut College shots in the win. Lily Nguyen made one save in nine minutes of relief duty for the Panthers. Ashleigh Kowtoniuk made 11 saves for Connecticut College, while Rachel Nelson contributed six saves in second half action between the pipes.
