Women's Lacrosse Handles Wesleyan

Middlebury improved to 3-0 on the season as they pulled away from Wesleyan, earning a 15-5 win on Kohn Field. The Panthers improve to 9-0 all-time against Wesleyan, as they continue NESCAC play on Saturday at Connecticut College. The Cardinals host Bates on Saturday.

Trailing 1-0, Lindsay Winstead scored on a free position, followed by a tally from Elizabeth Garry driving to the goal to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead. Charlotte Hastings tied the game for the Cardinals with a free position goal with 14:15 remaining in the first half, before Chase Delano answered for Middlebury. Clare Smith knotted the game once again at 3-3 with 5:08 remaining, before the Panthers closed the half with a pair of goals, including one from Dana Heritage as time expired.

Middlebury came out strong in the second half, scoring three goals in the first 4:57 to take an 8-3 lead with 25:03 left to play. Garry started the run with a high shot to the corner, followed by a tally from Heritage in transition and a quick-stick goal from Delano. The last two tallies were both assisted by Lindsay McBride. Jess Chukwu scored Wesleyan's final goal of the game with 18:45 remaining, before the Panthers closed the contest with six straight goals.

Caroline Kirkendoll started the run, before Heritage scored from Kirkendoll in transition. The Panthers then scored three goals with a pair of Cardinals sitting out for yellow cards. Lindsay Winstead scored the final goal of the afternoon with 1:25 remaining to make it a 15-5 contest.

Heritage scored three goals with two assists in the game, while Delano scored three times with a helper. McBride ended the afternoon with a goal and three assists, while Winstead and Garry each scored twice. Sarah Orkin led Wesleyan with a pair of goals, while Hastings had a goal and an assist.

Blair Bowie was impressive with 13 saves on the afternoon, while Maggie Drowica made nine stops for the Cardinals.
