Foote is now in her 36th year on the Middlebury athletic staff and her 32nd year as head coach of women's lacrosse. Her squads have won five NCAA Championships since '97, including four perfect seasons ('99, '01, '02, '04). The Panthers also made 14 straight trips to the final four from '94-'07 and have appeared in eight NCAA title games. The Panthers have also hosted eight of 11 NESCAC Tournaments, winning the title seven times.
The Panthers are recognized as a national power in women's lacrosse, boasting a 51-game winning streak during '01, '02 and most of '03. From ’97-’04, the Panthers lost just seven games, earning an overall mark of 131-7 en route to their five national titles. In '12, Foote was named to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
She has also guided the Panthers to two ECAC championships and has an overall record of 376-101-1. Foote was the '94, '97, '00, '01 and '02 Division III New England and National Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year. She earned NESCAC coach of the year honors from '01-'05, while being named the regional coach of the year in '12.
2001 marked Foote's 21st and final year as head coach of the field hockey program at Middlebury. She ended her career with a record of 180-95-12 for a .648 winning percentage. Her 180 wins are more than any other coach in the 33-year history of the program at Middlebury. Her most successful season came in 1998 when she led the team to a 17-1 record and its first NCAA Championship. She has also paced the team to NCAA Tournament appearances in '94 and '96. During her reign, the team made six ECAC Tournament appearances and captured a pair of ECAC crowns in '93 and '97. She was named the Division III Regional and National Coach of the Year in '94 and '98.
A 1974 Springfield College graduate, Foote coached field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, Vermont, before joining the Middlebury staff in 1977. She is currently the director of physical education at Middlebury.
Foote also serves as the Senior Woman Administrator and Associate Athletic Director at Middlebury.
