Women's Soccer Earns Tie At Bowdoin

10/3/04 - The Bowdoin and Middlebury College women's soccer teams played to a 1-1 tie in Brunswick on Sunday afternoon. The Polar Bears move to 4-3-1 this season, while the Panthers stay unbeaten at 6-0-1.


After a scoreless first half the Polar Bears got on the board with a goal early in the second frame. Katherine Whitley played a cross to Ann Zeigler, who buried it into the goal for a 1-0 Bowdoin advantage at 49:49. Middlebury evened the score at 72:33 when Erin Pittenger rifled a shot to the right corner to make it a 1-1 game.


With both teams playing their second game in as many days, neither squad produced any great chances late in the second half or overtime. Both goalies proved to be up to the task in the 110 minutes of play, with Els van Woert stopping seven shots for the Panthers and Anna Shapell making 11 saves for the Polar Bears.
