9/1//04 - Mayo Fujii (Londonderry, VT) tallied the game-winning score with just 24 seconds remaining, lifting Middlebury (1-0, 1-0) to a 2-1 victory over host Connecticut College (0-1, 0-1) Saturday afternoon. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute on a score from Brittany Cronin (Aurora, CO).  The Camels countered with a score from junior Maggie Driscoll in the 77th minute.

Freshman midfielder Kate Ashforth (New Canaan, CT) assisted on the equalizer and keyed a second half surge for the home side. The home team continued to apply pressure late but Middlebury seized its opportunity in the closing minutes. Erin Pittenger (McCall, ID) served a pass to the far left post, and Fuji one-timed the ball into the back of the net.  Junior keeper Kate Simmons (Altamont, NY) finished with eight saves for Connecticut College.
