Women's Soccer Beats Trinity, Panthers Travel To Bowdoin

October 29, 2005

10/29/05 - Caitlin Parker assisted on the game-tying goal and scored the game-winner 51 seconds into overtime to lead the visiting Middlebury College Panthers to a 2-1 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in the NESCAC regular season finale. The Panthers will travel to Bowdoin for a NESCAC first-round game on Sunday.

Sara Thiede opened the scoring on a pass from Erica Maciaszczyk with a chip shot over the head of Middlebury goalie Nancy Schneider in the 58th minute of play. Trinity maintained the lead for most of the second half until Erin Oliver buried the ball into an open goal after a scramble in front of the Bantam net to tie the score with less than 13 minutes left in regulation. Parker beat the Trinity defenders and went in on a breakaway against Bantam goalkeeper Tara Finucane placing the ball in the lower left-hand corner of the net for the game-winner. Finucane finished the game with nine saves while Schneider was forced to make just one stop for Middlebury.
