September 17, 2008

Middlebury picked up its first win of the season as the Panthers scored twice in the second half to earn a 2-0 victory over Keene State. Middlebury returns to action on Saturday when they host Wesleyan at 11:00 a.m.

Following a scoreless first half, Nora Tomlinson-Weintraub put the Panthers on the board just 2:17 into the second half, with a line drive rocket from 18 yards out. Ashley Pfaff had a great chance to double the lead in the 59th minute, but her shot from the left wing hit the far post. Jenny Galgano gave the Panthers some breathing room at 70:34 with a hard shot from the top of the box that sailed over the head of Keene goalkeeper Megan Dempsey (5 saves). Lauryn Torch made four saves in goal to pick up the shutout victory for the Panthers.
