Middlebury Falls To Amherst In Women's Soccer

September 13, 2008

Amherst scored three second half goals in a 10:49 span on its way to a 4-1 NESCAC win over Middlebury on Dragone Field. The Panthers fall to 0-3-1 on the year, while the Jeffs improve to 1-1.

Jackie Hirsch opened the scoring for Amherst as she scored from 16 yards out on the left side 23:35 into the game. Caitlin Parker answered for the Panthers after taking a feed from Molly West. The goal developed as Amherst keeper Lili Ferguson came out to cover a ball, but West beat her to it and quickly found Parker for the open net.

Meg Murphy scored from close-range at the 60:10 mark, followed by a marker from Natalie Ferraiolo just 48 seconds later, as she turned and fired a rocket into the net. The Jeffs final goal came after a restart, as Murphy struck again, this time from 15 yards out on the left side.

Adele Plunket and Lauryn Torch each made a save in 45 minutes for the Panthers, Ferguson got the win for the Jeffs with five saves, while Allie Horwitz made four solid stops in relief.
