Middlebury

Women's Soccer Falls To NYU

September 7, 2008

Middlebury saw its record fall to 0-1-1 on the season as they dropped a 1-0 decision to NYU on day two of the Stevens Engineering Cup Tournament in N.J. Sarah Pillermer tallied the winning goal at the 81st minute to give the Violets the win.

With just under nine minutes left in regulation, Pillemer was able to net her second goal of the season off a rebound after Laura Palumbo tried to put a shot past Adele Plunkett. Palumbo received a nice cross and fired it as Plunkett could not grasp the ball. Pillemer was there for the easy tap in, which secured the win.

NYU held the advantage in shots (13-7) and corners (6-2) as both teams had some golden opportunities to find the back of the net however some tough defense kept the door closed. Alex Walters posted two saves on the day and played the full 90 minutes, while Plunkett pulled in five saves for the Panthers.
