Women's Soccer With OT Win At Trinity

September 19, 2009

Amy Schlueter scored two goals, including a game-winner in double overtime to lead Middlebury to a 2-1 win over Trinity. The Bantams fall to 0-1-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the league after their third double overtime game this season while the Panthers improve to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the NESCAC, after their second overtime win this season.

Trinity scored their first goal of the season when Leigh Howard broke a 421-minute scoring drought to put the Bantams on top 1-0 just under seven minutes into the game. Trinity was able to hold the lead until Schlueter answered late in the second half to tie the game at 1-1 and eventually force overtime. In the second overtime period, Schlueter netted her second goal of the day with just 1:39 remaining to give the Panthers the win. The goal came as her shot bounced off the bottom of the crossbar and straight down, just crossing the goal line for the game-winner.

Lauryn Torch made nine saves to earn the win for the Panthers, while Lily Pepper made seven saves for the home team.
