Women's Soccer Players Earn NSCAA Honors
January 4, 2012
Middlebury College women’s soccer players Julia Favorito (Winchester, Mass.) and Scarlett Kirk (San Francisco, Calif.) were both named to the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) New England All-Star team. Favorito earned a spot on the first-team, while Kirk was a second-team selection. The pair helped lead the Panthers to an 13-4-2 record this season, winning an NCAA Regional.
Kirk followed up her solid rookie season with a break-out performance in ’11. The sophomore led the team with 14 goals, placing her third in the NESCAC with .74/game. She also paced the team in shots and game-winners with five. The two-time NESCAC player of the week had five multiple-goal games this season, including a hat-trick in a September 17th win over Colby. She scored eight goals during a five-game stretch earlier this season, while netting a pair in a NESCAC Quarterfinal win over Colby. Kirk now owns 21 career goals in 34 games.
Favorito was a mainstay in the midfield this season as a sophomore. Her steady play helped control the pace for the Panthers, as they advanced to the NCAA Sectionals. Favorito earned a goal and an assist in a win over Colby on September 17th, while dishing out assists in back-to-back games vs. Williams and Colby late in the year. She also found the back of the net in a first-round NCAA win over Lasell. She led the team with five assists this season, owning two goals and eight assists in 33 career games.
