Gibbs & Wagner Earn Academic Honors

Middlebury College women’s soccer players Lucy Wagner (Austin, Texas) and Colby Gibbs (Cheshire, Conn.) have been named District I First-Team Academic All-Americans by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). The pair helped the Panthers to finish with a 13-3-1 record, earning the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament while advancing to the NCAA’s.

Wagner is a senior mathematics major at Middlebury with a 3.83 GPA. She has now earned a spot on the all-district team for the second consecutive year. Wagner is a defender for the Panthers who served as a team captain for the past two seasons. She scored her first career goal earlier this year, finding the back of the net in a September 22nd win over Bowdoin. She ends her career with a goal and three assists in 56 games, despite missing most of her sophomore season with an injury.

Gibbs is majoring in political science at Middlebury, owning a 3.57 GPA. She was a first-team All-NESCAC selection in ’11 as a back/midfielder. Gibbs scored her first career goal in the November 10th NCAA win over Castleton State. She ends her career with a goal and an assist in 55 career games.
