Women's Soccer Thumps Norwich

Scarlett Kirk earned a hat-trick to lead Middlebury (2-1-1) to a 10-0 win over Norwich (0-5) on Dragone Field. The senior is now tied for second all-time at Middlebury with 35 career goals. The Panthers return to action on Saturday at Bowdoin.

Middlebury struck just 4:05 into the game when Jamie Soroka took a feed from Julia Favorito and scored the first of her career. Kirk followed with a rocket over the keeper’s head at 11:39, making it a 2-0 game.

Sarah Noble scored the first of her career at 15:05, converting an up-pass from Favorito with a shot into the right side of the net. Just 45 seconds later, Kirk one-touched a pass from Soroka to make it a 4-0 contest.

Soroka figured on three of Middlebury’s first five goals, netting her second at the 20:33 mark with a strong shot after a dish from Favorito. The assist was the third of the game for Favorito, tying her for third all-time at Middlebury with 18.

Rookies Krystina Reynolds and Adrianna Gildner scored 43 seconds apart, before Reynolds earned her second of the game after converting a cross from Grace Woroch at 35:39.

In the second half, Kirk took a nice feed from Soroka and made a quick move on the keeper before notching the hat-trick at the 62:56 mark. Gildner netted her second of the contest at 78:26 for the final goal of the game.

Middlebury held a 26-4 shots advantage in the contest as Kate Reinmuth made one second half save to earn the shutout. Allison Hull (6 saves, 8 GA) and Holly Lutz (4 saves, 2 GA) split time in goal for the Cadets.
