Women's Squash Takes A Point From Williams & Dartmouth - Tops Bates & Mt. Holyoke

The Middlebury women's squash team opened up '09 with a pair of 8-1 losses at home to Williams and Dartmouth. The Panthers turned it around the next day with 5-4 wins over Bates and Mt. Holyoke at Williams. The Panthers began the season ranked 18th nationally and have now climbed to the 15th spot with some impressive wins.
Against #11 Bates, the contest was tied at 4-4 with only the #5 match remaining, as Katharyn Bostwick trailed 2-1 and battled back for a 3-2 come-from behind victory.
A few hours later, the Middlebury women found themselves deadlocked again, this time with #12 Mt. Holyoke. With the score tied at 4-4, Avery Tilney was the last match remaining at #3 singles. With the match tied at 1-1, Tilney was awarded the third set due to her opponent's illness, and the won the fourth set for the 3-1 victory.
